Actually, with Kindle 3′s higher screen contrast, readers could still read well even under low lights. The one thing that a Kindle and most eReaders that use E Ink screen display cannot incorporate to the device is a back light that will illuminate the screen for reading convenience during night time. The reason for this is because of the E ink technology itself. Backlights come from behind or back of the screen or underneath it. E ink technology prevents this from happening because of how the technology works. Within it, there are tiny balls that have white color on one side and black on the other side. The computer will instruct the device which balls should be white and which should black, thus forming a word after. This way, readers can enjoy a paper like screen display and that is what Amazon aims at achieving. Kindle is designed to emulate what it is like reading from an actual book and backlights will only degrade the screen’s readability. The only way Kindle enthusiasts can enjoy their Kindles more at night time is by using a kindle light. There are various kindle reading light accessories available at Amazon that can provide the kind of illumination consumers are looking for.

One of the best kindle light ever made recently is the Kindle Lighted Leather Case. It looks like a normal leather case for an eReader, but with some surprises. For one thing, it has integrated a LED light within the cover itself. The light retracts into the cover. The light draws its power from the Kindle itself which means no more worries of suddenly getting low on light in the middle of the reading and battery change. When the kindle is on sleep mode, the Kindle light will automatically turn off as it uses kindle’s power. Just like most reading lights, the light is not evenly distributed to the entire screen of the Kindle with the top right side getting much light. Even so, it still gives off enough light to engage in an enjoyable read at night. It comes in a hefty price though at $59.99. Yet, many are still thrilled to get their hands on this two in one accessory, a cover with a light.

Kandle by Ozeri kindle light is another book light accessory compatible with Kindle 3 and other eBook readers. Battery-powered, it is designed to cast off even light on the Kindle’s display and it is compact. It is also cheaper at a list price of $39.99 but is currently selling at Amazon at $18.25. Huge savings at for a quality kindle light. The downside is that chubby frame is a little overwhelming on the slim features of the Kindle. Another book light compatible with Kindle that received a good review is the Verso clip-on reading light. Again, it runs with batteries and it attaches easily and comfortably on the Kindle or on the Kindle cover. It folds up easily and is very lightweight. It is also designed to cast uniform light on the Kindle screen so that the arm is bendable to the angle that you want to achieve. A glare on the screen can be easily eliminated just by adjusting the light; a good deal for a price of $19.99. The Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-on light for Kindle version is another good buy for a reading light. This kindle light clamp-on accessory is actually custom designed to fit Amazon’s Kindle. Just like Verso, it has an adjustable neck to manage the light and the positioning easily, but what makes it stand out that Verso is that its two super LED lights would equal 6 normal LEDs. With just a tap on the sensor switch, readers have the option to use one or two of the super LEDs adjusting brightness. However, the clamp is a little bit big for the Kindle, so the user must be careful of it not clipping on the screen. But altogether, for $14.99, it is worth a try for a useful and effective kindle light.
